Athletics

This year, we accomplished what few believed we could—we drew two extraordinarily talented and nationally recognized leaders home to take Miami Hurricanes athletics, and football in particular, to new heights. Our student-athletes never wavered in their quest for competition and pursuit of academic excellence. Explore highlights from our student-athletes and their supporters.


Miami placed 208 student-athletes on the 2021-22 ACC Honor Roll.

Spring 2022 marked the 17th consecutive semester in which our student-athletes averaged a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA, with 12 programs exceeding the 3.0 mark.

Our most recent NCAA Graduation Success Rate was 91 percent, and we posted a 987 in the latest NCAA Academic Progress Report, both scores higher than the NCAA academic unit requirement.

Nine programs achieved perfect NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores of 1,000—men’s basketball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, men’s diving, golf, soccer, women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis, and volleyball.

We posted a perfect score of 100 on the Athlete Ally Athletic Equality Index, a powerful testament to our institutional commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion.

Mia Vallée became the University’s 84th individual national champion when she captured the 1-meter springboard title at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, setting a meet record in the process.

 

Men’s basketball advanced to its first-ever Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. 

Women’s basketball advanced to its first ACC Tournament final.

Women’s track and field captured its fourth ACC Outdoor Track and Field title.

Volleyball advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Women’s tennis advanced to the Sweet 16 and posted its highest season-ending ranking (ninth) since 2013.

Baseball earned a national seed (sixth) in the NCAA Tournament.

Men’s tennis advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018.

Rowing broke into the Pocock CRCA poll for the first time in program history.

Randy Ableman earned ACC Men’s Diving and Women’s Diving Coach of the Year honors for the fifth and fourth time, respectively.

Amy Deem was named ACC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year for the fourth time.

Women’s basketball coach Katie Meier earned her 304th win, making her the all-time winningest coach in program history.

The Hurricane Club raised nearly $20 million, with 27 gifts of $100,000 or more.

The Hurricane Club raised more than $750,000 in direct support of women’s athletics through the Together 4 Her Campaign.
