At UHealth – University of Miami Health System, the compassion of a clinician often extends beyond their time with patients and families. Evan Peskin, an anesthesiology resident for the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, co-founded Good Samaritan Meals, a small nonprofit that serves Miami’s most vulnerable communities. For the past year, after many of his 12-hour shifts, he established a weekly ritual of visiting local bakeries to pick up leftover breads and pastries to deliver them to the Lotus House shelter for homeless women and children.
