A letter from President Julio Frenk

Weathering disruptions and leveraging opportunities requires bold decision-making and laser-focused execution. This past year, our creativity, our loyalty to the University of Miami, and our solutions-centered efforts enabled us to navigate uncertainty. Our determination has enabled us to emerge from the pandemic with an emphasis on positive change. 

Many of the disruptions and opportunities in higher education, technology, the economy, and society have caused unrest, but we are determined to lead, not follow, in each of our areas of endeavor: education, research, health care, innovation, and intercollegiate athletics. Within this report, we highlight many of the accomplishments that support and shape each of these areas at the University. 

As we approach our centennial in 2025, we are determined to finish our first century strong and to set a course for even greater achievements in our second century. 

Sustaining the U and delivering on its mission will demand three things of us: bold decisions, hard work, and above all else, integrity. We will continue to strive to accomplish our goals with rigor, passion, and distinction. And we will work together, as a team, to achieve optimal results because, as ’Canes, that’s what we do.
